How Safe Is Dalyan for Ex Pats

17-09-2024

The King Tombs looking down on Dalyan are evidence that people lived in the region many, many centuries ago. The modern town of Dalyan has grown during the 20th Century from a place based on agriculture with simple tracks the means of getting around. Dalyan is now an established tourist destination, not huge but with a sizeable increase in people during the months of summer. The local economy relies on these tourists and one of the beauties of the Turkish character is the natural hospitality you will find.

In addition to the holidaymakers that visit Dalyan, there is an increasing number of ex-pats that have made Dalyan their home. Brits and the Dutch make up the vast majority while in recent years there has been increasing investment from Turks whose lives and work are in places such as Istanbul. All visitors are welcome in the town which offers plenty in the way of entertainment and activities, day and night.

The level of crime is insignificant, and that is especially the case when it comes to anything approaching physical threat. You can walk around Dalyan, male or female, day and night and all you will get from locals is help if you need it. Taxi services are available 24/7, 365 days a year if you need them. With some places open until the early hours, taxis are most welcome if you have a really late night.

Dalyan has a range of accommodation available. Sone ex-pats own villas, other apartments while a third category rents. Apartments may be on complexes or one the first floor above retail units in the main streets. Smaller villas may also be of a complex, often with a shared pool. In those instances, you will have neighbours, ex-pat or local. Whatever your individual circumstances, you will find a safe place to live and help whenever you need it.
