Mugla Chamber of Commerce

25-08-2024

Sezgin Yigit, Managing Director Owner of King Emlak has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce since 2004, and campaigned and won to become a member of the council in 2014. He has been re-elected 3 times so far. This does add a significant workload onto his shoulders, however supporting and growing businesses in the estate agent and building sector is close to Sezgins` heart so he is happy to take on the extra role. Mugla Chamber of Commerce is the most important vehicle in the development and expansion of business growth in the province including Dalyan.

Mugla (pronounced “Moola” because the “g” in Turkish is silent) is a large province in the extreme South West of Turkiye. It has an extensive coastline with wonderful beaches and a climate that attracts large numbers of tourists, overseas as well as Turkish, every year. Even in the months of winter, temperatures remain attractive, especially to those people living in parts of Europe where there is a “real winter.”

It’s a great place to live and the province is serviced by two international airports, Dalaman and Bodrum Milas. There are significant numbers of ex-pats who have made their homes in Muigla, with Bodrum and Fethiye its biggest settlements yet with smaller places like the delightful Dalyan facing south towards Africa growing in the last two decades.

Chambers of Commerce were first established in Europe centuries ago, Marseille and then years later Barcelona. Subsequently, the concept spread into the UK and North America. Whilst not responsible for legislation, Chambers of Commerce act as lobbyists to seek the best business solutions for their membership. They cover many sectors within business and in the case of Mugla, one of the most important sectors is tourism, and everything that relates to a region’s popularity. That includes such things as real estate, and the hospitality sector in general.

As a result of the work of Mugla Chamber of Commerce, businesses have access to information and advice that will help them improve their performance. Improved efficiency and a greater ability to serve the public, customers and society in general is good news for everyone.

Mugla Chamber of Commerce was established in the late 19th Century but over the years it has changed dramatically as Mugla’s economy, has strayed way beyond an agricultural economy in its early days. Its vision is to ensure that international standards are in place throughout the province. That applies in finance, law, economy, foreign trade and trade registry.

The Chamber of Commerce sees its functions as:

•Providing training, legal and commercial support, seminars and consultancy to its membership.
•Supporting any projects that will help to develop Mugla’s economy, including the creation of investment opportunities.
•Ensuring that all commercial activities are both regular and fair.
•Cooperating with local and national government as well as official institutions to protect the interests of its membership.
•Undertaking market research with the aim of gathering economic data that might assist its membership in its strategic decision making.
•Supporting business expansion within the province in both national and international markets by the use of trade delegations, fairs and business trips.
